Dear Parents and Guardians,

Here is a beautiful write-up by two students who took part in the 3rd Annual Spanish Film Festival:

This Tuesday, qualifying students from SPB were invited to visit Crescent Heights School to compete their Spanish short films against other schools. The day consisted of bussing to Crescent Heights in the morning and watching other qualifying short films in the categories of Grades 5-6, 7, 8, 9, Spanish Language and Culture, and Grades 10-12. To determine the final winners, students were handed ballots and asked to vote for their personal favourite short film in each category.

SPB did a wonderful job at the film festival and represented us well. Our Grade 7's took home Best Use of Spanish to Mission Mono and Best Movie and People's Choice to Parpadeo. Grade 8's received Best Use of Spanish to Chicas Pesadas and People's Choice to Demasiado fácil de confiar. Grade 9's earned Best Movie for La música maldita and Best Use of Spanish to La lámpara. Finally, Spanish Language and Culture students received Best Movie for Vivir en el Momento, which competed against high school students. Overall, it was an amazing experience and gave SPB students an opportunity to share their hard work one more time.

— Carolynn, SLC Winner

The students got to take home trophies, medals, or candy depending on the categories they won. Overall, SPB was very successful and is excited to partake again next year!

— Aria, Spanish Club member and filmmaker

Have a great sunny weekend!
