Dear Parents and Guardians
As you will be aware by now, teachers will be starting strike action on Monday, October 6, 2025. We would like to make you aware of a few consequences of the strike that have been shared with us by the CBE:
The Calgary Board of Education has determined that all upcoming school events, sports practices and competitions will be cancelled between Oct. 6-31 due to labour action set to commence on Monday, Oct. 6. These dates could be extended depending on when labour action is resolved.
CBE Senior Leadership is advising schools that this decision is necessary to allow schools to focus on learning when classes resume. Schools will also require time to cancel sites as well as gym rentals, transportation, and to inform referees, volunteers, parents, and students.
For Senator Patrick Burns School, this specifically means that:
- There will be no School Council meeting on Wednesday, October 15, 2025
- There will be no Parent Teacher Conferences on October 17 and 20, 2025
- There will be no Picture Retake Day on October 22, 2025
- There will be no soccer and basketball practices and matches in October.
Once school commences again, we will communicate clearly about any possible rescheduling of the above events.
Please be aware that teachers will not have access to the building or their emails for the duration of the strike and will not be able to respond to any emails or phone calls.
For more up to date information, please visit the CBE Labour Action Website.
Thank you for your support and understanding in this matter.
Kind regards,
Sr. Ludwigsen, Principal
