TWA Jan. 29 - Feb. 2 | Bronco Barn, IPPs, Yearbook, Option Choices, Club de Español

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today we had 45 students from our Spanish Bilingual elementary feeder school,

W.O. Mitchel visit Senator Patrick Burns School. The Grade 6 team of teachers and students welcomed them, took them along into their lessons and introduced them to SPB school life in various engaging ways. We are excited to welcome our other two Spanish Bilingual elementary feeder schools, Collingwood and Dalhousie, next week and look forward to our Open House on February 14, 2024. I am excited about the many new students coming our way from our Spanish Bilingual Feeder Schools as well as our local English program feeder school, Capitol Hill, in September. SPB’s future looks bright and exciting.

Have a great weekend. Sr. Ludwigsen, Principal

Bronco Barn Fundraising: Homeroom 6-03

The grade 6 students of room 03 took on the job of running the Bronco Barn this week by establishing the latest and greatest ‘coffee’ shop experience: BroncoBucks! They tied their aprons, underwent barista training, and spent January 22-25 selling hot chocolate, tea, iced drinks and baked goods to the students and staff of SPB. In total they raised over $700.00, all of which will go toward the installation of a new outdoor basketball court.

Please enjoy a few snapshots of our baristas in action, and great job students of 6-03!

Updated Student IPPs

Homeroom teachers will share updated IPPs with parents/guardians by the end of the day on Friday, January 26. If you do not receive a copy of your child's IPP by that time, please contact your child's homeroom teacher directly to follow up. If you have requested that your child's homeroom teacher send you a password- protected digital copy of your child's IPP via email, you must have first signed and returned a digital consent form to your child's homeroom teacher. SPB Club Introduction: Club de Español

The Spanish Club is more than a space for learning the language; it is a place where we create unforgettable experiences and build lasting friendships. What do we do?

  • Spanish Cooking: Get ready to dive into the delicious diversity of Spanish cuisine! We will learn to prepare authentic dishes, share traditional recipes, and, of course, enjoy the delights we cook together.
  • Board Games: Explore the world of board games in Spanish. From classics to modern games, there will be fun for everyone. These games will not only challenge our minds but also provide opportunities to practice and improve our Spanish.
  • Movie Nights: Immerse yourself in Spanish-speaking cinema with our movie nights. From classics to contemporary gems, we will enjoy captivating stories together while improving our listening skills.
  • Riddles and Word Games: Challenge your mind with riddles, word games, and puzzles in Spanish. This activity will not only be fun but also strengthen your vocabulary and language skills.
  • Fun Games: The fun never stops! We'll organize various games to keep us active, laugh together, and strengthen our bond as club members.
  • Field Trips: Explore the real world with exciting field trips. We'll visit places that allow us to practice Spanish in everyday situations and learn more about the rich Hispanic culture.
  • We are committed to making your experience at The Spanish Club unforgettable. Come and join us as we explore, learn, and have fun in the company of friends who share the same enthusiasm for Spanish!

See you on Wednesdays at 3:00 pm in room 22!
