TWA Dec. 4-8 | Basketball, Personal Property, Homework Club, Cross Country, Morpheus Theatre, Calling all Artists, Miss Asela

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Last Friday we had 100+ fans cheering for our Sr. Boys Bronco Basketball Team who played a gutsy and exciting final game and narrowly lost to a strong F.E. Osborne team. Congratulation to all basketball teams and their amazing seasons, their coaches and especially the community coaches who stepped up this season. We couldn’t do this without you. Thank you to all the fans who showed up to home and away games to support our teams and show their Orgullo Bronco Pride this season. It is good to have both Sr. and Jr. Boys and Girls teams again and we are looking forward to the Volleyball season next.

Have a good weekend.

Sr. Ludwigsen, Principal

All students and families of SPB students are invited to enjoy the holiday classic ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, presented at the Pumphouse by Morpheus Theatre. While not a school-sanctioned event, this family-friendly show features ‘commercial breaks’ and live sound effects which bring the story to life in a unique way.

Morpheus Theatre has graciously offered us a discount on adult and student tickets. To take advantage of this, use the coupon code ‘NEWBURN’ at checkout online, or contact the box office at 403-246-2999.

Gay Straight Alliance Call for Art Submissions | Calling all Artists!

The Gay Straight Alliance is here to announce an exciting project for artists who would like to show their support for the Gay Straight Alliance and our wonderful 2SLGBTQIA+ community! Allies and community members alike are welcome to submit artworks to be displayed in the upcoming winter arts showcase on December 7th, 2023. So what is the theme you ask? As we want to celebrate the beauty of the community, your artwork should explore the theme of identity using either:

  • The colours from the pride flag or
  • The colours from the 2LGBTQIA+ flag you identify with

Artworks can be 2D, 3D or digital - whatever medium you love working with! In addition to your artwork, we ask that you submit a brief artist statement explaining your piece of art, why you chose to create it, why you used the techniques you did etc. You can include as much or as little personal details as you would like - it is up to you and your comfort level. If you would like to use your name you can, but you can also submit your work using a pen name or anonymously.

If you are interested, please use the following link to fill out a google form so we know that you would like to participate and what you are planning to make.

Please be assured that unless you indicate that you would like your name displayed, all submissions will be anonymous to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe.

Thank you all for your participation and support, and we cannot wait to see the beautiful artworks that you create!

Cheers,
The Gay Straight Alliance Team
