Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please join us for the first meeting of our SPB School Council followed by the first meeting of the SPB Parent Association on Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30 PM online (see link below). Most of our active member have moved on with their children to high school and we have most positions to fill. We really need your support! Please see below for an introduction to the amazing work our Parent Association is doing and how you can support them. I look forward to meeting you online on Wednesday.

Meet the Teacher Night is happening on the evening of Thursday, September 19. Parents of grade 6 students are invited to the gymnasium from 5:00 PM - 5:45 PM to learn about the new routines of middle school, and for tips on setting their children up for success this year, followed by time to meet the teachers in their homerooms. Parents of students in grades 7-9 are invited to a welcome message from Sr. Ludwigsen and Sra. Mandin in the gym at 6:00 PM, followed by two rounds of presentations in designated spaces to accommodate families with multiple children at SPB. Senator Patrick Burns Parent Association 2024/2025

Welcome back to school!

Senator Patrick Burns has both a Parent Council and a Parent Association. The Parent Association is responsible for fundraising and distributing fundraising dollars for the school. All parents are welcome to attend our meetings. Meetings are typically held the third Wednesday of the month directly following the parent council meetings. They are virtual and usually short and sweet!

We are planning a great year to raise funds for ‘extras’ at the school. The money raised is used for items like physical education equipment, outdoor education equipment, classroom supports, and much more. We have been able to help with band instruments and the new basketball court. Your funds make a difference for the children at the school.

For the upcoming year we are planning:

  • Apples (Sun Oka) in September,
  • Spolumbo’s / Coco Brooks in the fall and spring
  • Christmas Flowers (Growing Smiles) in late fall
  • Spring Flowers (Growing Smiles) in the spring

If you would like to donate to the parent association, but do not wish to participate in fundraisers, it is possible to write a cheque instead. Cheques would be made payable to: Senator Patrick Burns Parent Association.  If you require a tax receipt, you will have to contact the school directly to donate through the Education Matters program.

Our next Casino will not be until 2025 at the earliest. Volunteering at the casino has a huge impact on our school as it is our biggest fundraiser and only happens once every 1.5 to 2 years.

We need your help! We have several open positions in the Parent Association. This year we are seeking a Chair, Secretary, Board Members, Vice Chair, and extra help running the annual fundraisers. Please contact us if you are interested in making a big impact on your child’s school by helping with fundraising and deciding how our funds are allocated toward projects at the school - or attend our first meeting – September 18 following the Parent Council meeting.

More information on the Parent Association may be found at www.spbparentassociation.com or contact us at spbparentassociation@gmail.com
