Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week, our school had its first spirit week of the year. Spirit weeks are a powerful way to support wellness by fostering a sense of belonging, excitement, and positive connections. The week included activities to enjoy down time, interactive game stations to promote teamwork, exciting science challenges that mixed learning and play, the choice to enter a haunted house, and a Halloween costume contest where students could show their creativity and individuality. The best part is that our students took initiative in planning, setting up, and leading these activities. It was great to see the whole school come together, building a sense of community, while engaging with socio-emotional development in so many ways.
A huge thank you to Sra. Albertazzi, Sra. Newburn, Sr M Lopez, and Sra Barona.
Sr. Ludwigsen, Principal

Subject: A message regarding immunizations from the School Nurse to grade 6 families
Dear Parents/ Legal Guardians,
This email is to inform you that the Alberta Health Services School Immunization Program will be at Senator Patrick Burns School on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, to immunize grade 6 students. Only those students who returned signed consent forms will receive vaccination.
Fear of needles is common. The School Immunization Program is committed to helping prepare your child with the best tools to make their experience more comfortable. We will be encouraging students to prepare for immunization day using the Distraction Techniques listed on the AHS Commitment to Comfort website. Feel free to review these techniques with your child and discuss what strategies might work for them.
Other ways to help your child on immunization day are:
- Eat breakfast,
- Pack healthy snacks/lunch and a water bottle,
- Have your child wear a short sleeve shirt as immunizations go in the arms,
- Use positive language to encourage your child before, on, and after immunization day.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Best Regards,
Linda Garden RN BSN
