Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week, the basketball season ended for SPB. The girls’ basketball team made it into the semifinals where their fantastic season came to an end. The boys will be competing in their final game tonight to finish off their season. Huge congratulations to both teams on their achievements and a big thank you to all coaches for their dedication and commitment to support our students this season. All coaching in schools is done on a voluntary basis, is unpaid and requires a huge time commitment, often starting the day with practice at 7 am and finishing with the last match during a game night at 9 pm. Thank you to our PE Learning Leader, to oversee and organize all sport events this year and her endless and unpaid commitment to extracurricular activities for students of SPB.
Have a great weekend and stay warm.

SPB NEWS
Wellness
We have a MO-vember team! Will you support us?
This year, 8 of our male staff members have completely shaved and joined the
MO-vement in support of men's physical and mental health.
The campaign is so much more than growing moustaches, and anyone can be involved. It’s about supporting the men in our lives we care about to lead healthier, longer lives. For us, at SPB, it’s also about setting an example for our students that men’s health matters and that we have a community of support.
What is Movember?
Movember is the leading global charity changing the face of men’s health. They exist to stop men dying too young by tackling some of the most complex health issues facing men today – mental health, suicide, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
On average, men are dying 4.5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. We want to do something about that.
How to support our efforts?
As a parent, you are welcome to join our team and do your own fundraising
AND we are inviting donations both ONLINE & IN-PERSON.
Donate online OR join the team.
To donate in person, simply bring your funds to the main office.
On the donation message, make sure to mention your child’s house name/colour.
New wellness challenges this month!
Students, submit your completed challenge before November 29 and earn an extra 10 points for your house. To submit, you can, drop off your challenge at the office, see Sra. Albertazzi in Room 31 OR...

Your challenge is to reflect by doing the 10 x 10 practice. Simply, take time away from screens and think about you. List 10 things you are good at (Doesn’t have to be school related. Besides, list 10 things you are grateful for. Bonus, if you are considering how those two lists are related. Example: I’m good at soccer. I’m grateful for my parents who brought me to practice. | Your challenge is to answer this question in a creative way! What is neuroplasticity? You can create a poster, video, infographic, painting, game, etc. |
House of Amistad | House of Generosity |
Your challenge is to complete the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire. You can pick up a copy on the board at the school or download THIS COPY to figure out your strengths and areas for growth in emotional intelligence. Then, let us know something you learned. | Your challenge is to increase your ability to ask open-ended questions. Research what open-ended questions sound like and come up with at least 8 examples of open-ended questions. Don’t forget to submit your list. |
