Dear Parents and Guardians,
During our System Indigenous Education Professional Learning Day on Friday, November 8th, SPB staff spent time on the renewed CBE land acknowledgment. Acknowledging the land where we gather demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the original spirit and intent of Treaty 7, also known as the Blackfoot Treaty. This agreement is to share the land and live well together, in peace for ‘as long as the sun shines, the grass grows, and the river flows.’ This acknowledgement is an act of Truth and Reconciliation to honour the Indigenous peoples who have cared for their traditional territories since time immemorial and leads us to consider our individual and collective roles and responsibilities to the treaty relationship. Over the next weeks, students at SPB will spend time learning about land acknowledgments in general, and specifically the renewed CBE one.
Have a great weekend.

SPB NEWS
Wellness
We have a MO-vember team! Will you support us?
This year, 8 of our male staff members have completely shaved and joined the
MO-vement in support of men's physical and mental health.
The campaign is so much more than growing moustaches, and anyone can be involved. It’s about supporting the men in our lives we care about to lead healthier, longer lives. For us, at SPB, it’s also about setting an example for our students that men’s health matters and that we have a community of support.
WHAT IS MOVEMBER?
Movember is the leading global charity changing the face of men’s health. They exist to stop men dying too young by tackling some of the most complex health issues facing men today – mental health, suicide, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
On average, men are dying 4.5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. We want to do something about that.
HOW TO SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS?
As a parent, you are welcome to join our team and do your own fundraising
AND we are inviting donations both ONLINE & IN-PERSON.
To donate online OR join the team, go to: https://movember.com/t/the-men-of-spb?mc=1
To donate in person, simply bring your funds to the main office.
On the donation message, make sure to mention your child’s house name/colour.
