Dear Bronco Family,
Students enjoyed their first week back and got to know their new classmates, new teachers and new routines for a new school year. The atmosphere in the building was one of joy and excitement mixed with some nervousness due to new experiences. Overall, everyone managed to find all their classes and started learning in a new grade and classroom. I want to thank all parents and teachers for their support of all our students in the first week to make them feel welcome, respected and safe.
Speaking of safety: Your child will have brought home a paper copy of our new Senator Patrick Burns Admirable Use Policy for Digital Technology. Please have a look in your child’s backpack or download the digital copy that I have included in this email. We would like you to engage in a conversation with your child around the school’s expectations around use of technology and how they can successfully use CBE devices and online resources. We ask parents and students to sign the paper copy of the policy (please do not send us any electronic copies as we need to collect the actual signed papers) and have their child bring it back to school on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Thank you for your support in this important matter.

Tuesday, September 8
- Soccer tryouts are in the Upper and Lower fields for Boys and Girls form 3:15-4:30 PM. Students need to bring: PE strip, cleats, shin pads and water bottles.
- Basketball Team Interest Meeting at Lunch in Main Gym
- Cross Country Conditioning (optional). Due to interest, there will be an additional conditioning session each week on Mondays after school (this week it will be will Tuesday). Meet at in the playground. 3:10-3:45 PM. Arrive in comfortable clothes & shoes for running. Optional practice shirts available in Room 10. Please be reminded that all forms must be handed in to participate, and a school shirt will be required for meets.
Wednesday, September 9
- Sports Club Meeting in Room 6 during Lunch!
- Basketball tryouts are in the Main Gym for Boys form 7:00-8:15 AM. Students need to bring: PE strip and water bottles.
- Soccer tryouts are in the Upper and Lower fields for Boys and Girls form 3:15-4:30 PM. Students need to bring: PE strip, cleats, shin pads and water bottles.
- Cross Country Practice. Meet at the playground at the start of practice. Arrive dressed in comfortable clothing and proper footwear. 3:15–4:15 PM. Optional practice shirts available for practice in room 10 with Sra. Lastra. Please be reminded that all forms must be handed in to participate, and a school shirt will be required for meets.
Thursday, September 10
- Grade 9 Bamfield Interest Meeting at Lunch in Room 35 (Van Eerden)
- Soccer tryouts/practice are in the Upper and Lower fields for Boys and Girls form 3:15- 4:30 PM. Students need to bring: PE strip, cleats, shin pads and water bottles.
- Cross Country Meet – Vista Heights School. Parents/Guardians are responsible for arranging transportation to and from all off-site meets. Arrive 30 minutes before the first race and look for Srta. Villatoro and Sra. Lastra. Attendance check-in with Sra. Lastra. Dress in your Bronco apparel and colours with proper footwear!

Bronco Block
This year, we are introducing Bronco Block as part of our daily schedule. We will spend time on Monday explaining Bronco Block to students and outlining our expectations.
One important component of Bronco Block is dedicated reading time. To help students start successfully, please ensure your child brings a book they enjoy reading on the first day of school. Students should have a reading book with them regularly, so they are prepared for Bronco Block throughout the year.
We look forward to sharing more details with students as we begin the school year.
Band Updates and Rehearsals
Hello Band Families! Happy start to the school year, and I hope you have all had a great summer. I can’t wait to hear about your adventures, musical or otherwise. As we jump into the new school year, I would like to share rehearsal days with you to help in your planning. They will be as follows:
- Grade 7: Monday 3:00-4:00 PM
- Grade 8: Tuesday 3:00-4:00 PM
- Grade 9: Wednesday 3:00-4:00 PM
- NEW! Strings Club on Thursday 3:00-4:00 PM
- Do you have an interest in, or do you already play a stringed instrument? Join us on Thursdays after school to learn or improve on your skills in a relaxed environment focusing on learning by ear and collaborating. Guitars, violins/fiddles, cellos, ukeleles, mandolins are all welcome! Note: Instruments will not be provided – you will need to bring your own.
Please note that rehearsals will not start until the beginning of October to allow us to get settled back into routines, and dive into the materials we will be working on for the first half of the year. Please keep an eye out for an email with further details including a calendar in the coming days.
