Dear Parents and Guardians,

Students and staff successfully navigated the second week back and routines are kicking in at SPB. Now we want to encourage you, parents and guardians, to get involved at SPB. We have many ways how you can support, for example our first School Council meeting on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 6:30 pm online. Please find the agenda and the link to the Teams meeting below. Secondly, we need several motivated parents to support the Parent Association, the fundraising group for our school. As we are now a smaller school, we will need additional funds and support more than ever and the group is looking for new members who can support their work. Thirdly, you will notice that teachers will start to reach out for volunteer support, as will the volunteer coordinator from our School Council. Please consider supporting your students’ homerooms on various occasions so we can continue to offer as many trips and experiences as possible.

Finally, we would like to invite you all for our Meet the Teacher evening on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Please see below for more details. Please note that this is not a Parent – Teacher Conference but an opportunity to meet the whole grade team of your child.

Cross Country Team

Yesterday, we kicked off another season—and we still have room and would love for more runners to join the fun! The next two races will be on Tuesday, September 16 at West Confederation Park followed by the final race at Confederation Park on Monday, September 22 which will be the most important date for us to finish top amongst other Middle Schools.

Joining Cross Country is a great way to show your dedication, build endurance, and be part of a committed athletic community. Coaches across all sports recognize and value athletes who put in the work. If you're thinking about trying out for other teams, this is the perfect place to start.

Individualized Program Plans (IPPs)

Key IPP teachers will contact parents/guardians by the end of the day on Friday, September 12 to introduce themselves and to begin the process of gathering information from you about your child’s learning strengths and needs.  If you do not hear from your child’s key IPP teacher by this time, please contact the resource teacher, Aimee Inostroza, at atinostroza@cbe.ab.ca.  First drafts of IPPs will be shared with parents/guardians by mid-October.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Sra. Inostroza.
