Sep. 11-15: Bikes, Bullying / Social Network Safety, Volunteers, Learning Leader Ms. Newburn
Bullying / Social Network Safety Presentation with Paul Davis on September 11
This week we are excited to welcome Paul Davis to join us on Monday. We will have two assemblies in the afternoon for all our students for him to talk about issues around bullying and social media. We are delighted to also have him join us for the evening to talk to guardians about social network safety.
Paul is renowned for his work around bullying prevention and making students and parents aware of the safety issues when it comes to social media. Please check out Paul and his work here: https://socialnetworkingsafety.net/
Bikes at SPB
To encourage students to bike to school and to have a safe place for them to park their bikes we have made the inner courtyard available for bike storage. Students are allowed to enter the school building through the back door and push (not cycle) their bikes through the building into the inner courtyard. The bikes will need to be placed between the fence and the cafeteria wall. The bikes will not be accessible until the end of the day and no students are allowed in the bike storage area during the day.
Fun Lunch Volunteers
We are looking for four (4) volunteers for our upcoming fun lunch on September 21 from 11:00-12:00. Please review the available slots and click on the button to sign up: www.signupgenius.com/funlunch
Teacher Introduction - Sra. Newburn
Over the next weeks, we will have new teachers introduce themselves in the Week Ahead email. This week, please meet our new learning leader for performing arts at SPB, Sra. Paisley Newburn:
Estimadas familias de SPB,
I am so excited to be joining the Bronco family as the Learning Leader for Performing Arts and CTF. I learned Spanish while studying in Mexico, as well as during my undergraduate degree in French and Spanish, and my love of the language has flourished during my five years working as a teacher in the Spanish Bilingual Program. My passion for theatre, music and performance is matched by my love of learning, and I am passionate about student well-being and strive to make the drama classroom (and any classroom!) a safe, welcoming space for all.
When I am not teaching, I can be found rehearsing for a community theatre musical, knitting something cozy, working on my master's degree in counselling psychology, or exploring the mountains with my dog and husband.
Thank you so much to the SPB students, parents and staff for the warm welcome, and I can't wait to create, innovate and celebrate the arts and the Spanish language with your children this year!
Saludos cordiales,
Sra. Paisley Newburn
