Dear Parents and Guardians,

After the teacher strike had been ended by the Alberta government, students and teachers returned to Senator Patrick Burns School this Wednesday. Teachers were happy to welcome back their students in their classrooms and students enjoyed catching up with their friends and classmates. 

I would like to thank everyone who reached out to teachers to show their support before, during and after the strike. This means a lot to all of us while we are advocating for better teaching and learning conditions for all students and teachers. Your messages, cards, gifts, sweets and pizzas meant a lot to us teachers.  

While we are in the process of restarting our school, we will prioritize core learning outcomes, relationships and well-being over content “coverage”. This will allow for deeper and more meaningful learning instead of trying to play catch-up. To do this most effectively, the CBE has encouraged us to cancel all events for next week to give teachers time to focus on planning their teaching and learning. Please see below for more information regarding the rescheduled School Photo Retake Day as well as the new dates for the Parent – Teacher Conferences later this month.

SPB Parent Association – Casino Volunteers 

The SPB Parent Association needs you for our largest fundraiser for our school. We will require over 40 volunteers for our casino being held at Cowboys Casino on Tuesday, December 9 and Wednesday, December 10.
