Dear Parents and Guardians

Meet Sonic, the SPB Snow hog. That was one of our art students’ way to deal with another week of variable weather and more snow. If you cannot fight it, then why not use food colouring and create your favourite game character with snow?!

Hoping for warmer weather. Sr. Ludwigsen, Principal

Que Pasa

We are excited to announce that on Monday, May 7, 2024, at 1:00 pm, the Calgary Board of Education’s Spanish Bilingual Schools, from elementary to high school, will come together at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium to present and celebrate the Spanish language, culture and music through Que Pasa.

Approximately 650 students will sing, dance and perform in bands to celebrate various genres of music, ranging from folkloric/traditional to contemporary styles.

We are pleased to have CBE’s dignitaries and external International delegations in attendance. As well, CBE’s newly appointed Chief Superintendent Joanne Pitman will also be sharing a few opening remarks.

We cordially invite all school families, community members, and interested stakeholders to be part of this fantastic celebration of our Spanish Bilingual program.

Tickets are available for only $15 plus GST and can be purchased through Ticketmaster by visiting this Link: https://www.ticketmaster.ca/event/11006075D236279A .

School Opening Hours

SPB School doors open at 8 am with a warning bell at 8:20 am and an 8:25 am lesson start. School ends at 2:55 pm and we expect all students to have left the building by 3:10 pm unless students are in a club. Due to an increase in vandalism in the building, we ask students to leave the building and wait outside the front doors to be picked up. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Birthday Celebrations at SPB

Starting next week, we will celebrate two months' worth of birthdays. To recognize all birthdays that will happen over the summer, we will celebrate birthdays in May and July together, later June and August. For example, our first double birthday week will be April 27 to May 3 and June 29 to July 5 birthdays.

The birthday celebrations give us a chance to connect with all of our students and allows us to speak with them about their experience at SPB.
