Dear Parents and Guardians

This week, we had a mini film festival at SPB. Here is our Spanish Learning Leader Sra. Moreno’s summary:

Over the last couple of months, SPB students and Spanish teachers have been working hard on creating short films in Spanish. We saw a lot of creativity, hard work and dedication throughout the process. What a way to showcase our Spanish skills! It was a hard task choosing two short movies per grade to represent us at the Festival de Cine en Español at Crescent Heights High School on May 30. This Thursday, we celebrated students' work by hosting our own sneak peek gala of all the winning short films. We even had the Student Council create their own Orgullo Bronco Pride Awards, which were handed out during the gala. It was amazing to see the students celebrating each other's accomplishments and having fun with Spanish.

Thank you to Sra. Moreno and her team to organize this event. We are now looking forward to the Festival de Cine en Español at Crescent Heights High School on May 30.

G.E.T.T.(Girls Exploring Trade and Technology) for students in Grade 7-9 This year Sra. Herrera is one out of ten teachers selected in Alberta to participate a G.E.T.T Try a trade activity.

“The Girls Exploring Trades & Technologies (GETT) program is a celebration of women in trade and technology careers. Throughout the GETT program, girls will gain a new perspective and be motivated to open their minds to the diverse career paths available to them.”

Students will get the chance to test-drive careers and learn new skills through 4 different hands-on Try-A-Trade® Take-Out kits. Kits focus on careers in Sheet Metal, Woodworking, Aesthetics, and Refrigeration and include instructions and female-led tutorial videos. Each kit will include necessary materials and safety equipment for 25 students to complete all 4 activities.

This opportunity is going to run as club after school, and it is going to be first come first serve for the first 25, students’ parent emails, will have guarantee spot per activity.
