Dear Parents and Guardians,
Both our girls’ volleyball teams had their finals this week against two formidable opponents. The junior team played a tight game against G. P. Vanier, winning the first set but ultimately coming out short in the second and third sets. The juniors had a great season, coming first in their tournament at Nickle School and second in the regular tournament.
The seniors had a great season as well with a lot of growth, finishing their season in third place and having to play both teams that they had lost to throughout the season in order to become champions. As the third placed team, they played the first placed team, Colonel Irvine in the finals and were able to win in two very close sets, upsetting the second and first placed teams of the regular season to capture the Division Championship!
Congratulations to both teams as well as their excellent and inspiring coaches, Sra. And Sr. Lopez–Leeder, on successfully finishing two amazing seasons!

Request for Donations of Climbing Holds
We are excited to announce that we are planning to reset the walls in our climbing gym. To provide even more opportunities for our students, we aim to have two routes per wall. However, in order to achieve this, we are in need of additional climbing holds.
If you have any climbing holds (rocks) at home that you would be willing to donate to the school, we would greatly appreciate it. Your contribution will help us enhance the climbing experience for all students.
Thank you for your support, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

🌎Eco Broncos Update 🌎
At SPB, we take great pride in our environmental efforts, and we are excited to share that our school is currently Bronze Certified with EcoSchools Canada!
What is EcoSchools?
EcoSchools is a national environmental certification program that supports and recognizes schools for their sustainability initiatives. With a focus on waste reduction, energy conservation, nature and biodiversity, and climate action, EcoSchools helps students and staff work together to build a greener future.
Our Eco Broncos in Action
SPB is especially proud to be the only school in Calgary with the most comprehensive waste sorting system for plastic bags. Did you know that single plastic bags cannot be recycled through regular streams? Thanks to our dedicated
Eco Broncos and community, last year we successfully diverted over 150 kg of plastic bags from the landfill, ensuring they were properly recycled instead.
Calling All Eco Leaders!
We are always looking for energetic and passionate students to join our Eco Broncos club. We meet every Thursday at lunchtime in the Learning Commons, and all students are welcome to be part of our mission to make SPB greener!
How You Can Help
We encourage our entire SPB community to join us in small, impactful changes — like reusing plastic sandwich, treat, or Ziploc bags until the end of their life. Every action counts!
Lunch Kit Tip of the Week
Stay tuned — each week, we’ll be sharing a helpful Lunch Kit Tip to inspire even more eco-friendly habits at home and at school.
Together, we can make a difference! 💚
