Dear Parents and Guardians
As we approach the second to last week of school, there's still much excitement ahead. On Monday, we'll wrap up badminton with a party and show appreciation to our Homework Club volunteers. Our clubs and meetings continue throughout the week, with highlights including Ultimate Frisbee, Eco Club, and Robotics.
Thursday brings Grade 7s to Calaway Park and our farewell celebration for Grade 9s. Let's also remember to spread kindness with our June Wellness Challenge and ensure IPP signature pages are returned by June 19. Let's make this week count!
Have a great weekend. Sr. Ludwigsen, Principal
Breaking News: SPB School Achieves Bronze Status for Eco-Schools!
We are thrilled to announce that SPB School has reached Bronze status in the international Eco-Schools programme by the Foundation for Environmental
Education! This achievement reflects our commitment to empowering students to be the change our sustainable world needs. Through our dedicated Eco Broncos Club, we've hit several key milestones this year, including the successful implementation of the GOOS program (Good On One Side), significantly reducing the amount of plastics being improperly recycled, and cutting our carbon footprint by 70 kg in a year. More importantly, we've had the opportunity to educate our learning community on the importance of proper waste management and its impact on both local and global scales.
Due to our huge achievements, we were invited to present at the Mayor's Environmental Expo on June 5th, alongside the top contributors to environmental sustainability in education. We're on a three-year plan to make our school NET ZERO by planting trees to offset our CO2 production.
Did you know that purchasing snack foods that are not prepackaged is not only better for our environment as it reduces the amount of garbage we produce, but is also more cost-effective for households?
Parents can help make a difference at home by bundling stretchy plastics together in a clear bag for proper recycling and striving for waste-free student lunches.
Let's continue working together for a sustainable future! Mil gracias,
Sra. Ivonne Bayona
