Dear Parents and Guardians

This week, Grade 9 leadership students organized an array of activities for students across all grade groups. On Monday, a group of students visited our Spanish Bilingual feeder school, Collingwood, and worked with grade 1 & 3 students, on Tuesday, they organized an in house dodgeball tournament culminating with the winning Grade 9 team playing against teachers at the end of the day, on Wednesday they engaged our newly arrived English learners in games and conversations. On Thursday, the students organized a games event for Grade 6 students, a potluck with music for Grade 9 students and finally an invite only Teatime for SPB staff to which I was invited as well. I am highly impressed with all the leadership that was on display this week supplementing the work that the student council is doing at SPB. As parents and guardians you can be very proud of your children who are developing into fine young leaders. 

You might have noticed that MyCBE was not accessible to you over the last couple of weeks. This was due to teachers inputting grades and report card comments which will go live on Monday, January 27, 2025, at noon.

Chinook Learning Services | Continuing Education | Spanish for Parents - Level 1 | Winter 2025

Chinook Learning Services offers courses specifically designed for parents and caregivers of CBE Spanish Bilingual students. For Winter 2025, Chinook Learning Services is offering Spanish for Parents – Level 1.

This eight-week course will help parents of bilingual students learn or refresh their Spanish language skills, build their network of bilingual parents, and support their children’s learning at home. 

High School Information for Grade 9 Students, Parents and Guardians

HIGH SCHOOL TOURS (for grade 9 students only)

  • North Trail High School: January 27 9 am to noon. Parents are responsible for dropping off and picking up students for tours at North Trail- contact klmandin@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions

IPPs to be shared with parents/guardians on Monday, January 27

Your child’s homeroom teacher will share his or her IPP with you on Monday, January 27 at noon.  If you are satisfied with the contents of the IPP as they are written, please sign and return the signature sheet to your child’s homeroom teacher at your earliest convenience.  If you have any questions about your child’s IPP, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher directly.
