Dear Parents and Guardians,

This week, six classes from grades 6-9 went on an indoor climbing field trip to the Rocky Mountain Climbing Facility. Students had an incredible time honing their climbing techniques and challenging themselves on various routes and taller walls. We would like to extend a big thank you to the staff and parent volunteers for making this adventure possible. 🧗‍♂️

Last Friday, Chief Superintendent Joanne Pitman and Education Director Martine Sawatzky came to visit Senator Patrick Burns School for a follow-up visit after the Spanish Ambassador gifted our Chief four Spanish books. During a small ceremony in the Learning Commons, Chief Superintendent Pitman presented the books to students of our Spanish Club, our Librarian Sra. Barillas and our Spanish Learning Leader, Sra. Moreno. This was a proud moment for our school and a very kind gesture of support of the Spanish Bilingual Program at SPB. For the rest of her visit, Jo Pitman visited classrooms with a particular focus on literacy and numeracy instruction and gave us high praise for all the work learning leaders and teachers are doing at Senator Patrick Burns School.

Chinook Learning Services | Continuing Education | Spanish for Parents - Level 1 | Winter 2025

Chinook Learning Services offers courses specifically designed for parents and caregivers of CBE Spanish Bilingual students. For Winter 2025, Chinook Learning Services is offering Spanish for Parents – Level 1.

This eight-week course will help parents of bilingual students learn or refresh their Spanish language skills, build their network of bilingual parents, and support their children’s learning at home.
