Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week, we had new benches installed in the boys’ and girls’ locker rooms. For a long time, there was no bench in the boys’ changing room but due to the advocacy of Student Council Representatives, this was brought to our attention, and we took action. This is another amazing win for the SPB Student Council and their never-ending quest to improve the school for all students. You can be very proud of your children’s work to make SPB a better place for everyone.
Starting Monday, SPB will be affected by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) job action. If you want to find the latest information about the CUPE job action, please visit the labour action web page which will be updated regularly. The school will be open, and lessons will take place as per normal.
However, there will be a few changes for after school athletics and extra-curricular activities starting at SPB on Monday, February 24, 2025:
- Students will need to have left the building by 3:15 pm (1:15 pm on Fridays) unless they are taking part in a club (e.g. homework club, band, volleyball etc.).
- All clubs (besides drama and volleyball) will need to finish at 3:45 pm as per CBE rules.
- Volleyball and drama rehearsal will have to finish by 4:30 pm the latest and students will have to leave the building immediately after.
- The school doors will close at 4:30 pm every day unless we have a home volleyball match.
- Volleyball matches must finish by 6:00 pm with students having left the building by 6:30 pm on home games’ nights.
- No student spectators are allowed at games anymore unless they have a sibling playing in the team and are supervised by parents.
- Parents of participating athletes are welcome to all home and away games.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Have a great weekend.
