Dear Bronco Family,
After three days of planning and organizing, teachers and administrators are now ready to welcome all our student (back) to Senator Patrick Burns School. We hope that you all had a great summer with your family to relax, play and connect with friends.
We understand that students will feel differently about returning to school on Monday, some might be excited and some might feel nervous about entering a new grade or a new school. Both feelings are valid, we as teachers and administrators share those feelings. You might have some questions and concerns now, and we will address them all next week when we meet in person. Please see below for more detailed information for the first two days.
You should all have received an email from next year’s homeroom teacher introducing themselves and welcoming you to their class. In case you have not received any email - this will be an administrative error that we will fix on Monday.
Teachers carefully created class lists at the end of last year and students were asked to suggest four peers who support their learning and with whom they would benefit from being placed in the same homeroom. We asked for the four names not to be ranked or in any order. Teachers have used this information to ensure that at least one of those peers will be in your child’s homeroom. Rest assured that your child’s teachers spent considerable time thoughtfully and strategically placing students into classes that best support both their academic and social needs. Please note that we will not accept parent requests for specific teachers or peer placements at any grade level. We kindly ask that families refrain from making these requests to teachers or school administrators.
If there is important information about your child that you believe we may not already be aware of, or if circumstances have changed that could impact their success next year, please submit this information in writing to our Assistant Principal, Sra. Moreno next week.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Have a wonderful weekend.
Sr. Ludwigsen,

Bronco Block
This year, we are introducing Bronco Block as part of our daily schedule. We will spend time on Monday explaining Bronco Block to students and outlining our expectations.
One important component of Bronco Block is dedicated reading time. To help students start successfully, please ensure your child brings a book they enjoy reading on the first day of school. Students should have a reading book with them regularly, so they are prepared for Bronco Block throughout the year.
We look forward to sharing more details with students as we begin the school year.
Band Updates and Rehearsals
Hello Band Families! Happy start to the school year, and I hope you have all had a great summer. I can’t wait to hear about your adventures, musical or otherwise. As we jump into the new school year, I would like to share rehearsal days with you to help in your planning. They will be as follows:
- Grade 7: Monday 3-4
- Grade 8: Tuesday 3-4
- Grade 9: Wednesday 3-4
- NEW! Strings Club on Thursday 3-4
- Do you have an interest in, or do you already play a stringed instrument? Join us on Thursdays after school to learn or improve on your skills in a relaxed environment focusing on learning by ear and collaborating. Guitars, violins/fiddles, cellos, ukeleles, mandolins are all welcome! Note: Instruments will not be provided – you will need to bring your own.
Please note that rehearsals will not start until the beginning of October to allow us to get settled back into routines, and dive into the materials we will be working on for the first half of the year. Please keep an eye out for an email with further details including a calendar in the coming days.
Thank you, and looking forward to another great year at SPB!
