Dear Parents and Guardians
During the month of April, SPB is offering many field trips for our students with Grade 8 students visiting the Military Museums and Grade 6 students visiting the Leighton Art Centre. Thank you to all parent volunteers who allow us to go ahead with these trips as we always need a high rate of supervision for these trips to go ahead. Without teachers organizing these trips – a big thank you to Sra. Panrucker and Sra. Herrera for all their planning – as well as parent volunteers supporting us on the day of the field trips, these opportunities would not be available for our students. In case you have not had the chance to take part in these wonderful trips – please look out for emails asking for volunteers.
Thank you for all your support to make SPB the amazing school it is.

The School Play is Looking for Donations!
The cast of Peter and the Starcatcher has been hard at work since January preparing our first school play, based on the hilarious and charming novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. As we assemble our sets and costumes, we are seeking the following donations, OR leads on where to find these on a minimal budget:
- ONE dresser with drawers (do not have to match, can be weathered or in imperfect condition)
- One standing coat/hat rack
- Large cooking utensils (i.e. whisks, spatulas, barbecue utensils, manual eggbeaters etc.)
- Fabric in any/all textures and colour, will be used to sew mermaid tails.
If we have your permission to paint the dressers and/or coat rack, we would appreciate it, however if not, we will return them in the same condition. Cooking utensils will be labelled, used as props, and returned after the show closes at the beginning of June.
Thank you so much for your support, and please reach out to Paisley at pcnewburn@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions.
🌎Eco Broncos Update 🌎
Calling All Eco Leaders!
We are always looking for energetic and passionate students to join our Eco Broncos club. We meet every Thursday at lunchtime in the Learning Commons, and all students are welcome to be part of our mission to make SPB greener!
Lunch Kit Tip of the Week
Pre-Cut Snacks to Reduce Waste 🍏 – If possible, cut fruit and veggies at home and pack them in reusable containers to avoid store-bought single-serve packages.
Get Ready to Celebrate Earth Week!
Tuesday 22 – Nature inspired fashion
Wednesday 23 – The Great Gulp – Bring your reusable water container!
Thursday 24 – Take me outside day – learn outside – Remember to turn all unnecessary lights OFF!
Friday 25 – Waste Free Lunch Day – bring a ZERO waste lunch for a treat!
Do You Sew?
The crew of Peter and the Starcatcher would welcome your expertise! Our first school play requires a couple of costumes that are a bit more advanced than our tech team can manage, and we are searching for parents with some available time to help us construct these items. If you are available and interested in sharing your talents, please reach out to Paisley at pcnewburn@cbe.ab.ca for more details!

Request for Donations of Climbing Holds
We are excited to announce that we are planning to reset the walls in our climbing gym. To provide even more opportunities for our students, we aim to have two routes per wall. However, in order to achieve this, we are in need of additional climbing holds.
If you have any climbing holds (rocks) at home that you would be willing to donate to the school, we would greatly appreciate it. Your contribution will help us enhance the climbing experience for all students.
Thank you for your support, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
